About Me

I Run On Batteries is my story about living with Type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed in my first semester of college. I was living far away from any family and had to jump into the diabetes world with both feet. Over time I started to get the hang of living with diabetes and realized it didn't change my life style as much as I thought it would. I wear an insulin pump and CGM, have a local diabetes group in Fresno, and finally got the nerve to share my story.

I'm pretty much obsessed with all things diabetes and encouraging those who have just recently been diagnosed. It's a life changing disease to have, it's frustrating, but my hope is to encourage you thorugh my stories that it's not the end of the world.

  1. Hi there, I too was diagnosed in college so it was a shock to find out as a young adult. I am now 41 and struggling a bit and having a hard time getting back on track. Glad I found your website...very cool and motivational. I plan to educate those to live with and not to battle with the disease. Look forward to reading more and glad the younger generation is a bit more tech savy then me!!!!! Diabetic Dee
